Valentine's day email marketing ideas

It’s that time of the year again.  Valentine’s day is upon us, and whether you believe in the day or not, the truth is that it’s one of the busiest times for ecommerce.  Any holiday associated with celebrating your loved ones and gifting poses a great opportunity for ecommerce. The National Retail Federation reported that Valentine’s day sales will total about $2.2 billion in 2021. “Fifty two per cent of US adults plan to celebrate Valentine’s Day, spending a total of $21.8 billion, says an annual survey released recently by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Prosper Insights & Analytics.

Last year, we saw over a 30% increase in orders on the Valentine’s day week, peaking a week before the D-day to allow enough time for the orders to be delivered in time. This year is going to be no different. Now more than ever, online gifting will take precedence over in-person shopping, fancy dinner and wine dates due to COVID and many shelter-in-place restrictions still in effect in most of the US and Europe. According to the NRF report, those celebrating plan to spend an average $164.76, down $32 on average per person, from a record $196.31 in 2020 right before the pandemic hit. So, the long and short of it, if you’re an ecommerce company, there’s no denying Valentine’s day is a great opportunity to sell more. And to do that, you need to make sure your email marketing game is on point for the week. And the sooner you start, the better.

That said, we’ve put together a few amazing Valentine’s templates that should shoot Cupid’s arrow right to the heart of your target market!

Even though this store is a baby clothing store, our amazing email designers managed to make it Valentine’s day themed. After all, what bigger love than a bunch of cuddly babies wrapped in some amazing clothes?

3. Animated email for a fashion merch store

We loved the wonderful animated “Valentine card” on this one.

4. Subtle Valentine’s day themed email for jewelry brand

Not all brands like to go to town with all red and hearts for valentines’ day marketing.  You can keep it subtle and yet introduce a hint of valentine’s theme and keep the content around gifting.
